Product Introduction
The Amphenol 87900-150HLF is a 50-position, dual-row unshrouded pin header from the BERGSTIK® II series, designed for board-to-board interconnect applications. It uses a 0.100" (2.54mm) square-pin grid on both the row-to-row and pin-to-pin spacing, which is the standard footprint for legacy and current through-hole PCB layouts. The header is loaded to all 50 positions with male pins made of phosphor bronze, and the mating contact finish is specified as gold or GXT™ at a thickness of 30.0µin (0.76µm) — a plating grade suited for repeated mating cycles and corrosive environments.
Key Ratings and What They Mean
Rated at 5A per contact with a 110V voltage limit, this header handles signal-level and moderate power duty in a board-to-board stack. The 0.100" pitch provides enough creepage for the 110V rating without forcing an oversized board footprint. The 30.0µin gold or GXT plating on the mating surface is the key spec for cycle life — it supports hundreds of mate-unmate cycles in field-service or test-fixture roles, where tin plating would fret and oxidize. The unshrouded design means there is no plastic wall around the pins for polarization or alignment; the mating receptacle must provide its own keying or the board layout must prevent reverse insertion.
Construction and Mounting
Through-hole solder termination with a 0.120" (3.05mm) post length and a total contact length of 0.940" (23.88mm). The 0.720" (18.29mm) mating pin length gives plenty of reach into a standard receptacle. The black thermoplastic housing carries a UL94 V-0 flammability rating, which meets the enclosure fire-safety requirement for most industrial and commercial equipment. The push-pull fastening type means there is no locking latch — the retention comes from the interference fit of the pins in the receptacle contacts.
