BERGSTIK II Unshrouded Header, 23 Positions
The Amphenol 87916-423HLF is a 23-position, single-row, unshrouded male pin header from the BERGSTIK® II series, designed for board-to-board interconnect applications. It uses a standard 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch — the same footprint as legacy 0.1-inch grid layouts — so it drops into existing board patterns without a layout change. Rated 5A per contact with a 110V voltage rating, this is a signal-level header, not a power bus. The through-hole solder termination and 0.830" (21.08mm) mating contact length give it reach for stacking or right-angle board mating where the header sits perpendicular to the PCB. The housing is molded in black UL94 V-0 rated material, so it meets the flame rating required for equipment inside an enclosure. The unshrouded design means the exposed pins are accessible for probing or manual wiring, but it also means the mating receptacle needs its own shroud or housing for pin protection in a cable assembly.
Contact Plating and Duty Cycle
Both the mating and post surfaces carry a tin finish, with the mating side plated to 100.0µin (2.54µm). Tin is a cost-effective choice for applications with limited mating cycles — think one-time board-to-board connections in a production assembly or infrequent field service. For high-cycle or corrosive environments, a gold-plated sibling in the same BERGSTIK II family would be the better call; the tin here is suited for the duty where the connector mates once and stays put.
