BergStik 93690-101-16LF: Dual-Row Breakaway Header for Board-to-Board and Cable Interconnects
The Amphenol 93690-101-16LF is a 16-position, dual-row unshrouded breakaway header from the BergStik series, on a standard 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch. It is a male pin header with square contacts, designed for through-hole mounting with either press-fit or solder termination. The mating interface carries a gold GXT™ finish rated at 30.0 µin (0.76 µm), while the solder/post side is tin-plated at 39.4 µin (1.00 µm).
It matches the footprint of a wide range of IDC sockets, ribbon cable connectors, and crimp housings. The 16 positions are loaded across two rows, giving an 8-per-row layout that fits a standard 0.100" x 0.100" grid. The overall contact length of 0.582" (14.78 mm) breaks down into a 0.295" (7.49 mm) mating length and a 0.177" (4.50 mm) post length, which sets the board-to-board stack height when mated with a standard receptacle.
The selective plating is a deliberate design choice. The tin finish on the post (39.4 µin) is optimized for solderability and press-fit compliance. The copper alloy base material is standard for this class of header.
Termination: Press-Fit or Solder — A Sourcing and Assembly Decision
Press-fit is the preferred method for backplane or high-reliability assemblies where avoiding the thermal shock of wave solder is critical. Solder termination is the standard for prototype or low-volume builds.
