Connector Overview
The Amphenol 93939-108HLF is an 8-position, dual-row, unshrouded male pin header from the BERGSTIK® II series. It uses a 0.100" (2.54mm) square grid on both pitch and row spacing, making it a drop-in fit for standard perf-board or 0.100"-center PCB layouts. The right-angle through-hole termination places the pins parallel to the board, which is useful for edge-mount or mezzanine connections where the cable exits sideways. Rated for 5 A per contact with a 110 V voltage ceiling, this header handles general-purpose signal and moderate power duty. The mating contacts are plated with 30.0 µin (0.76 µm) of gold or GXT™, giving it a robust cycle life for repeated connect-disconnect in test fixtures or modular assemblies.
Key Specifications and What They Mean for Fit
The 0.100" pitch and row spacing are the defining footprint dimensions. Every other spec—current, voltage, plating—sits on this grid. Because the header is unshrouded, the board layout needs to account for the exposed pins; there is no plastic wall to guide the mating receptacle, so alignment relies on the mating housing's own lead-in chamfers. The 0.160" (4.06mm) mating pin length provides enough wipe for standard 0.100"-pitch IDC or crimp receptacles to seat fully. The 0.120" (3.05mm) solder tail length is typical for a 1.6mm-thick PCB; if the board is thicker, verify the tail protrudes enough for a reliable solder fillet. The 30 µinch gold on the mating interface is the real differentiator here—it supports hundreds of mating cycles without the fretting corrosion you would see with tin-on-tin in a vibration environment. The housing is rated UL 94 V-0, which is the baseline requirement for equipment inside an enclosure that needs a flammability rating.
