Right-Angle Board-Edge Placement
The 0.120" (3.05 mm) solder post length gives enough tail to wet through a standard 0.062" board. The 0.160" (4.06 mm) mating pin length engages the receptacle contact fully before the housing bottoms out.
Gold Mating Finish for Repeated Mating Cycles
The 30.0 µ" gold-on-phosphor-bronze mating finish is the feature that separates this header from a standard tin-plated BERGSTIK II. The tin post finish is standard for wave-solder wetting. If your application is a one-time permanent solder joint with no reconnection, a tin-mating variant saves cost; if the header will be unmated and remated, the gold pays for itself in contact reliability.
