30 A Power Contacts — What That Means for Your Harness
The D5W5P36A6GX08LF: 30 A per contact at 300 V. Derate above 125°C per the product drawing.
Board Lock and Grounding Indents
The board lock feature provides SMT retention during reflow and resists shear forces from cable strain — useful in vibration-prone assemblies or where the cable is routed near the connector. The grounding indents on the steel, nickel-plated shell mate with the receptacle face to bleed shield current before it reaches the signal pins, helping EMC compliance in shielded harness runs.
GX08LF vs GV08LF — The Flange Feature Difference
The D5W5P36A6GX08LF and the D5W5P36A6GV08LF are electrically and mechanically identical except for the flange feature. The GX08LF uses a Housing/Shell (4-40) flange — the 4-40 threaded insert is in the shell itself, for panel-mount applications where the connector is bolted to a bulkhead. The GV08LF uses a Mating Side, Female Screwlock (4-40) — the screwlock is on the mating side, for cable-to-panel or cable-to-cable connections where the plug is mated to a receptacle with jackscrews. Both are active, both carry the same 30 A, 300 V, 30.0µin gold, board lock, and grounding indent spec. The choice is purely mechanical: does the plug mount to a panel or mate to a cable?
