50 Ohm SMB/Fakra Plug with Code D Keying
The FA1-NDSP-PCB-2: This through-hole solder-terminated connector carries the Code D mechanical keying variant — one of several Fakra colour/key codes that prevent cross-mating of different signal types (e.g., GPS, cellular, SDARS) in the same harness bundle. The locking ramp fastening provides positive retention under vibration, a requirement for automotive-grade Fakra interconnects.
Impedance and Frequency Range
The 50 Ohm characteristic impedance matches standard RF system impedance for cellular, GNSS, and Wi-Fi signal paths. The 4 GHz maximum frequency covers most automotive RF bands (/L5 GNSS at 1.2-1.6 GHz, cellular LTE/5G sub-6 GHz, and ISM bands at 2.4 GHz) with margin.
Shield termination is via solder to the connector body, providing a continuous ground path from the cable braid through the mated interface. Through-hole mounting gives a mechanically robust solder joint compared to SMT, important for connectors that experience cable strain during assembly or service.
Housing and Keying
The housing comes in violet and claret colours — these correspond to the Fakra Code D keying standard. In a multi-connector harness, the colour-coding and mechanical keying prevent inserting a GPS antenna plug into a cellular radio port. The single-port design keeps the footprint compact for dense PCB layouts in telematics control units.
