PSMP-FSBA-1175: 50-Ohm Straight Barrel for PSMP Interconnects
The Amphenol PSMP-FSBA-1175 is a straight, in-line adapter that joins two PSMP interfaces — female socket on both ends, plug-to-plug conversion within the same series. Snap-on coupling on both ends gives a quick, tool-less mate that holds under moderate vibration.
What the 10 GHz and 50 Ohm Ratings Mean for the RF Path
The 10 GHz maximum frequency means the adapter's geometry and dielectric (PTFE) maintain a controlled impedance and acceptable VSWR up to that limit; above 10 GHz the design is not characterised, so treat the 10 GHz figure as the hard ceiling for the link budget.
Materials and Mating Life
The beryllium copper centre contact, gold-plated on the mating surface, gives the spring force needed for snap-on retention through 100 mating cycles without taking a set. White bronze on the beryllium copper body provides a corrosion-resistant shell that also contributes to shielding effectiveness — the adapter is essentially a continuous outer conductor between the two PSMP interfaces. The snap-on fastening on both ends means no threaded coupling; it mates with a push and releases with a dedicated tool or a firm axial pull. For a permanent or semi-permanent RF link where the adapter is set and forgotten, the 100-cycle life is more than adequate; for a test-bench adapter that gets swapped daily, it is a reasonable service life before the snap-on retention begins to loosen.
