What the 26.5 GHz ceiling means for your RF path
The Amphenol SMP-FR-C07-2-R is a 50-Ohm SMP plug terminated for RG-405 (.085" /.086" semi-rigid) cable, rated to 26.5 GHz. That frequency limit covers the full Ku band (12–18 GHz) and well into K band (18–26.5 GHz) — it's not an X-band-only part. The right-angle body changes the cable exit direction 90° from the mating axis, which matters when routing semi-rigid coax around a board edge or through a tight enclosure wall. The snap-on fastening gives a quick blind-mate connection but limits the cycle life to 100 mates — fine for test-port and module-level interconnects, not for daily hand-cycle production test.
Mating and termination — what connects and how
It mates with any standard SMP jack (male pin) interface — the snap-on retention provides positive engagement without a coupling nut. Termination is solder for both the centre conductor and the shield. No crimp tool needed; prepare the semi-rigid cable end per the manufacturer's strip dimensions, solder the centre pin, and solder the braid to the body.
