3.5 mm stereo jack with dual internal switches
The SJ1-3535N is a 3.50 mm (1/8") stereo phone jack from CUI Devices' SJ1 series, accepting a standard TRS mini-plug. It breaks out three signal conductors across five contacts and includes two internal switches for detecting plug insertion or routing signal paths. Rated 1 A at 16 VDC, the jack mounts through hole with a right-angle orientation, suiting it for panel-edge or PCB-edge audio I/O in consumer and pro-audio equipment.
Right-angle orientation and mating depth
The right-angle through-hole footprint places the plug entry parallel to the PCB, a common layout for sound-card brackets, mixer panels, and front-panel audio jacks. Mating depth is 0.551" (14.00 mm) from the panel face to the contact tip. The jack is unshielded; the brass body and PBT housing provide mechanical retention without a conductive shell. Contact plating is tin over brass.
Switch logic and signal routing
Two internal switches close or open on plug insertion, allowing the circuit to mute speakers when a headphone plug is inserted or to reroute the signal path without an external relay. The stereo (3-conductor, TRS) contact arrangement carries left, right, and common ground.
