What This 6-Position ZIF Connector Does on the Board
The 06FLZ-SM2-TB(LF)(SN) is a 6-position, 0.50mm pitch FPC connector from JST's FLZ series, terminated by solder to the PCB in a right-angle surface-mount orientation. The right-angle body keeps the mated stack height at 2.00 mm above the board, which fits under a low-profile cover or between stacked PCBs. The slide lock holds the FPC securely against vibration — a backed-out cable in a ZIF connector usually means the lock wasn't fully engaged, not a contact failure.
Board Fit and Routing — 0.50mm Pitch, Right-Angle SMT
The 0.50mm pitch sets the PCB footprint: each pad is narrow, and the routing between pads requires a trace width and spacing that a standard 1 oz copper layer can handle. The 2.00 mm height above board is the mated dimension — the FPC sits flush with the top of the housing, so the total z-height budget is exactly that.
Field Fit and Cable Compatibility
The slide lock actuator is black; the housing is gray, so a quick visual check confirms the lock is closed. Top-contact style means the contact beams press down on the FPC pads from above — the cable's exposed pads face upward when inserted. If you're replacing a cable on site, orient the flex so the pad side is visible before sliding it in.
