JST 08DB-6S(LF) — 8-Position IDC Connector, 2.50mm Pitch
The JST 08DB-6S(LF) is an 8-position, single-row IDC connector from the DB series, designed for mass-termination of ribbon cable or discrete stranded wires. It uses a 0.098" (2.50mm) pitch on both the cable and board side, matching standard 2.50mm ribbon cable spacing. The connector terminates 24-28 AWG stranded wire through insulation displacement, eliminating the need for stripping or crimping individual contacts. Mounting is through-hole press-fit, which means the connector is pressed into plated through-holes without solder — a method common in backplane assemblies where rework or high-reliability solderless connections are preferred. The housing is white, and the contacts have a Tin-Lead finish.
The IDC termination accepts 24-28 AWG stranded wire — a range that covers common signal-level wiring in ribbon cables and discrete harnesses. The closed-end feature means the connector has a solid back wall, preventing wire push-through and ensuring consistent insertion depth. The connector is supplied with the IDC contacts pre-installed in the housing; you load the wires into the slots and press them home with a hand tool or press.
The 0.098" (2.50mm) board-side pitch matches the cable pitch, so the PCB footprint is a straight row of 8 through-holes at 2.50mm centers. The press-fit termination requires the PCB to have plated through-holes sized for the compliant press-fit pin — no solder paste, no reflow. This is a solderless connection, which simplifies assembly and allows field replacement if a pin is damaged.
