Mounting and Termination — Press-Fit vs Solder
The press-fit termination method is the key differentiator here. Instead of wave-soldering the pins, the connector is pressed into the board using a pneumatic or hand arbor press. The compliant pin geometry deforms to fill the plated hole, creating a gas-tight connection that meets the same reliability standards as soldered joints.
