The 0.039" (1.00mm) pitch is a common FPC standard, so the footprint matches many off-the-shelf FFC cables with 0.30 mm thickness. Vertical mounting keeps the cable standing upright off the board, which helps in tight enclosures where a right-angle connector would crowd the edge.

Position count delta vs 30-position sibling
Compared to the 30-position 30FMN-BMT-A-TF, this 40-position version adds ten circuits in the same 1.00 mm pitch and same 5.10 mm height above board. All other ratings — 0.5 A, 50 V, LIF, tin finish, UL94 V-0 — are identical across the FMN vertical SMD family.
