What This 8-Pin XH Header Does for the Design
Pitch, Positions, and the Board Footprint
At 2.50mm pitch, this header routes eight signals in a 17.5mm-wide footprint on the PCB — the row spacing leaves room for trace fan-out on a single-layer board. The through-hole posts are 0.134" (3.40mm) long, suited for standard 1.6mm-thick PCBs with enough tail length for a reliable solder fillet on the opposite side.
Tin Contacts and the Current Ceiling
The mating finish is tin, not gold — this keeps the per-unit cost down but limits the connector to roughly 30–50 mating cycles before the tin oxide layer builds resistance. For applications requiring frequent disconnect-reconnect (field-service or battery swapping), the gold-plated sibling B8B-XH-AM(LF)(SN) is the better choice.
The (LF)(SN) suffix confirms RoHS compliance and a tin-plated contact finish.
