Sizing the PCB Footprint and Clearance
The S7B-XH-A(LF)(SN): The 2.50mm pitch and 0.134" (3.40mm) post length set the PCB hole pattern and solder joint geometry. The 0.240" (6.10mm) insulation height above the board provides clearance for mating receptacle housing and wire strain relief.
This header mates with JST XH series crimp receptacle housings (e.g., XHP-7) using tin-plated female terminals (e.g., SXH-001T-P0.6). Termination is press-fit, solder — the press-fit feature allows the header to be temporarily held in place during wave soldering, reducing the need for secondary hold-down fixtures. The brass contact material with tin post finish provides good solderability and corrosion resistance at the PCB joint.
The base product number S7B-XH-A identifies the series and variant for cross-referencing. No official pin-compatible alternative from JST is listed; the XH series is a mature, widely used platform with consistent tooling.
