Board-to-Wire Signal Header for Tight Spaces
The SM15B-ZESS-TB(LF)(SN): It is a shrouded 4-wall header with a locking ramp, surface-mounted at a right angle, and carries tin-plated contacts rated 2 A per circuit at 100 V.
The tin-on-tin contact interface (mating and post) is cost-effective for applications with infrequent mating — think once at assembly and maybe a field service cycle or two. Tin-plated contacts are rated for fewer mating cycles than gold; if your design requires repeated disconnect/reconnect, consider the gold-plated variant in the ZE series.
SMT Soldering and Board Retention
This header includes solder retention features — small tabs on the body that reflow to the board pads, holding the connector in place during wave or reflow soldering. Without them, a right-angle SMT header can tilt or shift as the solder paste wets; the retention tabs keep the mating face square to the board edge. Termination is solder only — no press-fit option. The tape-and-reel packaging (cut tape also available) is set for automated pick-and-place; the reel quantity is standard for JST ZE headers.
Active Status and Sourcing Outlook
For BOM planning, the base product number is SM15B-ZE, and the full order code includes the plating and packaging suffix.
