3-Position IDC Receptacle for 22-24 AWG Discrete Wire
The Molex 0917160001 is a 3-circuit receptacle from the Appli-Mate 91716 series, designed for mass-terminating discrete 22-24 AWG wire using an IDC (insulation displacement) slot — no stripping, no crimping. Tin-plated outer shroud contacts handle the connection; the free-hanging, right-angle orientation lets the wire exit parallel to the mating face, useful for tight cable routing against a panel or housing wall.
What the IDC Termination Means for Assembly
The trade-off is that the wire gauge must match the slot: 22-24 AWG is the range here. Tin plating on the contacts is adequate for a few mate-unmate cycles in a clean, dry environment; it is not rated for repeated field servicing or corrosive atmospheres. The natural (uncolored) housing is the standard finish for this series.
Mating and Harness Fit
The 3-position, single-row layout means the mating connector carries three pins on a 2.50 mm pitch. No special tool is required beyond a standard IDC press — the same hand tool or arbor press that seats the wire into the slot also closes the housing latch.
It is ROHS3 compliant.
