Board-to-Board Mezzanine Connector for Tight Stacking
It uses a 0.40mm pitch and a 1mm mated stack height, which means two PCBs sit exactly 1mm apart when mated — a common spacing for ultra-thin handheld or wearable devices where every tenth of a millimeter counts.
What the 0.40mm Pitch and 1mm Stack Height Mean for Your Layout
Your board-to-board spacing is exactly 1mm, so the mating header must also be from the SlimStack 502426 series at the same stack height. The 40 positions in 2 rows give you 20 contacts per row, which matches a 40-circuit BOM line — confirm your circuit count before layout. It is not a heavy-duty automotive or industrial gold; if your application calls for frequent disconnect/reconnect or a corrosive atmosphere, consider a thicker plating option in the series. The solder retention feature means the connector has small tabs that reflow-solder to the board, holding it in place during the SMT process and resisting shear forces from cable strain or thermal cycling. This is a practical advantage over connectors without retention — it prevents tombstoning and keeps the connector flat on the pad.
Both halves are surface-mount only — no through-hole option. The connector is soldered to the board in a standard reflow oven; no press-fit or crimp termination. Confirm the header part number for your specific position count before ordering.
