10-Position IDC Plug for Ribbon Cable Harnesses
The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 1-111504-4 is a 10-position, dual-row IDC plug designed for mass-termination to 26-28 AWG ribbon cable. The free-hanging (in-line) mount and latch lock/eject hooks let you secure the plug to a mating receptacle and release it without tools during field service. The black housing carries 10 male pin contacts with 30.0µin (0.76µm) gold plating on the mating surface — a thickness that supports repeated mating cycles without exposing the base metal, which matters for signal-level connections in equipment that sees periodic reconfiguration or maintenance.
This plug terminates 26-28 AWG ribbon cable via IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection), meaning the cable is laid across the contact slots and pressed down so the fork-shaped contacts cut through the insulation and grip the conductor. No stripping or soldering is needed — the termination is simultaneous for all 10 positions, which speeds harness build and eliminates variation in strip length or solder joint quality. The feed-through feature in the housing design allows the ribbon cable to pass straight through the connector body, which is typical for daisy-chain or pass-through cable assemblies where the signal continues to another connector downstream.
The eject function pushes the plug away from the receptacle when the latches are released, which helps when the connector pair is in a tight harness bundle.
