The 60-position count on a dual-row 0.100" pitch means the connector body is about 3 inches long — a large footprint that needs clearance on the board edge or in the cable routing path. The polarizing key and feed-through feature prevent mis-mating and allow daisy-chaining through the connector body, which is useful for pass-through wiring in backplane or card-cage applications.
Termination is IDC: the ribbon cable is laid into the slot, the cover is pressed down, and the forked contacts cut through the insulation to make connection. No crimp tool, no solder. The free-hanging housing has integral strain relief features to protect the IDC termination point from cable pull.
