Stamped Pin for Multimate III+ Housings
The TE Connectivity 1-66359-5 is a stamped pin contact from the Multimate III+ series, designed for crimp termination onto 14-18 AWG wire. It mates with the corresponding Multimate III+ socket contacts and fits standard Multimate III+ housings — the same cavity geometry used across the series for signal and low-power circuits. The contact is formed from phosphor bronze with a tin plating, 50.0µin (1.27µm) thick. Tin is a workable finish for moderate mating cycles in dry indoor environments — it cold-welds under high normal force, so the contact resistance stays stable through several hundred mate-unmate cycles. For applications requiring frequent reconnection or exposure to corrosive atmospheres, a gold-plated sibling in the same series would be the better call.
Crimp Termination and Wire Range
Crimp termination means the wire barrel is mechanically compressed around the stripped conductor — no solder, no flux, no heat damage to the insulation. The 14-18 AWG range covers common signal and low-power circuit wiring in industrial control panels, automotive harnesses, and test equipment. Use the TE-certified hand crimp tool or a pneumatic applicator with the correct die set for this contact family; the crimp height spec is in the TE application drawing.
