This pin accepts 14-18 AWG stranded wire. The stamped construction gives a consistent cross-section across the crimp zone, which matters when the wire bundle is routed into a tight enclosure and the termination sees vibration.
Plating grade and mating cycle life
Standard gold flash (under 15 µ") is fine for a few mate-unmate cycles in a factory build; 30.0µin gold is rated for repeated field engagement — think a power supply swapped out annually or a test fixture cable that gets reconnected weekly. The brass substrate under the gold provides the spring force in the stamped beam; the gold layer prevents oxide buildup that would raise contact resistance over time.
