It terminates discrete or ribbon cable with a mass-termination IDC slot — no wire stripping, just a press tool and a consistent gas-tight joint on every conductor. The 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch matches the standard AMPMODU header grid, so the board footprint is a known quantity for any 6-position, dual-row male pin header. Gold plating at 30.0µin (0.76µm) on the female socket contacts gives this part the mating-cycle margin for field-service or repeated test connections, well above the 15 µ" floor for corrosive or high-reliability environments.
The IDC slot accepts 26-30 AWG wire — 30 AWG is explicitly in range, so fine-pitch ribbon cable or discrete 30 AWG signal wire lands without a crimp terminal. The Closed End feature on the housing gives a positive stop for the cable jacket, so the conductors register at the same depth every time the press tool cycles. That matters when you are running a harness build: consistent insertion depth means every conductor gets the same contact wipe and the same retention.
