Three-Position PCB Terminal Block with Rising Cage Clamp
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1776119-3 is a three-position, single-level PCB terminal block designed for wire-to-board power and signal connections. It uses a screw-driven rising cage clamp termination — turning the M3 screw lifts a nickel-plated brass clamp plate that pulls the stripped wire against the conductor path, rather than driving the screw tip into the strands. This reduces strand damage and gives a consistent gas-tight connection across the full 16-30 AWG range. Wires enter parallel to the PCB (side entry), which suits enclosures where vertical clearance above the board is limited.
Termination and Torque
The rising cage clamp accepts solid or stranded wire from 16 AWG down to 30 AWG. The recommended screw torque is 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In) — enough to seat the clamp firmly without stripping the M3 brass screw. Under-torquing leaves the wire loose under vibration; over-torquing can deform the clamp or strip the threads. The clamp and screw are both brass with nickel plating, giving corrosion resistance in industrial cabinet environments.
