9-Position D-Sub Plug for Signal Interconnects
It carries 1.5A per contact at 250V — a signal-level rating typical for standard-density D-subs, not a power bus. The shell is steel with a tin-nickel finish, and the housing uses a glass-filled PBT dielectric rated UL94 V-0. The flange carries female screwlocks (4-40) on the mating side, which means the plug secures directly to the receptacle with standard D-sub hardware — no adapter needed.
Board Lock and Grounding Indents — What They Do in Assembly
During wave soldering, they hold the connector square to the board — without them, the shell can tilt as the solder joints cool, pulling the pin tips out of alignment with the receptacle. For a 9-position plug this is less critical than on a 25-position, but it still saves rework on a dense board. Grounding indents on the shell face contact the receptacle shell before the signal pins mate. This bleeds electrostatic discharge and shield currents to ground before they reach the contacts — useful in environments with frequent plug/unplug cycles or nearby switching gear.
