15 A / 600 V plug for panel wiring
The 282809-4 is a 4-position plug from the TE Buchanan series, rated 15 A at 600 V per UL — a common spec for industrial control panels, power distribution blocks, and HVAC equipment where the wire terminates in a field-serviceable screw clamp rather than a soldered joint.
Rising cage clamp termination
Termination is screw-driven rising cage clamp, accepting 12-30 AWG (0.05-3mm²) solid or stranded wire with a strip length of 6-7.5mm. The screw torque spec is 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) — overtightening can strip the PA66 threads; a torque screwdriver is recommended for consistent clamping force across all four positions. The plug is free-hanging (in-line) with 180° wire entry, so the cable enters straight into the cage clamp — no right-angle bend at the termination point. Retention latches on the non-wire side hold the plug mated to the header under vibration; you should hear them click when fully seated.
