PCB Terminal Block for Power Distribution
It uses a rising cage clamp mechanism with an M3 screw, accepting wire from 12-30 AWG. The 3.50 mm pitch provides enough spacing for 300 V rated isolation between adjacent circuits, while the 12 A per-circuit rating suits low-to-moderate power distribution inside control cabinets, power supplies, and industrial equipment.
Side Interlocking for Multi-Position Assemblies
A key feature of this block is the side interlocking, which allows multiple 284414-8 units to be ganged side-by-side without additional brackets or jumpers. This is useful when you need more than 8 positions on a single PCB — simply interlock adjacent blocks to extend the terminal strip. The interlocking tabs align the housings and maintain the 3.50 mm pitch across the assembly.
Installation: Torque and Clamp
The M3 screw requires a torque of 0.25 Nm (2.2 Lb-In). Over-torquing can strip the brass-nickel screw or deform the rising cage clamp, which is brass-nickel plated. The clamp rises as the screw tightens, pressing the wire against the conductor bar. The contact material is brass with tin plating, adequate for the rated 12 A in dry indoor environments.
