AMP-Latch 24-Position IDC Plug for Ribbon Cable
The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 5111448-5 is a 24-position IDC plug designed for mass-termination to 26-28 AWG ribbon cable. The black housing includes a feed-through feature, and the connector mounts to a panel, not the board, which keeps the cable exit clean in an enclosure.
This plug terminates ribbon cable with an IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection) — no wire stripping, no crimp tool, just a press. The 26-28 AWG range covers the common ribbon cable gauges for signal interconnects inside equipment. The feed-through feature lets the cable pass straight through the housing, which simplifies routing in a panel-mount setup where the cable enters from one side and exits the other.
The 5111448-5 mates with the standard AMP-Latch shrouded header (the 24-position, 0.100" pitch version) — the same series that has been a de facto ribbon-cable interconnect for decades. The plug mounts to a panel, not the PCB, so the header stays soldered to the board and the plug connects to the cable assembly. That panel-mount arrangement means the connector body takes the strain of cable pulls, not the header pins.
