It uses the 0.050 inch pitch x 0.100 inch row-to-row layout common to high-density D-subs, packing 50 signal contacts into a shell size that would normally carry 15 pins on a standard-density D-sub.
This is a signal connector, not a power interconnect; each contact carries logic-level or low-current analog signals.
Shielded Shell and IDC Termination
The steel, tin-nickel plated shell is the EMI barrier — it mates with the receptacle shell to create a continuous shield around the pin field. The IDC termination means the ribbon cable is mass-terminated in one press operation; there are no individual crimp contacts to replace. If a wire breaks in the harness, the entire connector is replaced, not repaired one contact at a time. The free-hanging mount lets the cable assembly float inside the chassis without a board-mounted header.
