The TE Connectivity 6-1478762-7 is a two-piece backshell from the ADK series, designed to terminate and shield a round cable entering a 25-position D-sub connector at a straight 180° angle. It's the metal shell that clamps over the cable jacket, provides strain relief, and bonds the cable shield to the connector shell for EMI containment. The backshell is compatible with standard 25-position D-sub connectors as well as HD44-position housings that share the same B shell size.
Hardware and Construction
The housing is die-cast zinc with a nickel plating — the nickel gives a corrosion-resistant surface that maintains shield continuity across the mated pair. M3 mating screws are built into the assembly, so you don't need to source jack-screws separately. The kit also includes assembly hardware and a strain-relief clamp that grips the round cable jacket and takes the mechanical load off the solder or crimp connections inside the connector.
Shielding and Cable Exit
This is a shielded backshell — the metal-to-metal contact between the backshell halves and the D-sub connector shell creates a continuous EMI barrier around the termination area.
