16-Position DIP Header for 28 AWG Ribbon Cable
It uses a press-fit through-hole mounting style — the compliant pins press into plated through-holes without solder, which suits backplane assemblies where rework or field replacement is a consideration. The red housing includes a feed-through feature that allows daisy-chaining multiple headers on the same cable run.
Board-Side Pitch and Footprint Fit
The press-fit termination means the holes must be plated through and sized to the compliant-pin geometry; the manufacturer's recommended hole diameter is in the product drawing.
IDC Termination and Tooling
Termination is IDC — insulation displacement contacts pierce the 28 AWG ribbon cable insulation in one press operation. No stripping or soldering is needed. The recommended tool is a manual or pneumatic IDC press with the correct die set for Micro-MaTch headers; the manufacturer's application tooling specification covers the required anvil and insertion force. The feed-through feature allows the cable to pass through the header, so multiple headers can be ganged on the same ribbon without cutting the cable between them.
