What this press-fit pin socket is built for
The 8134-HC-8P2 is a single-circuit press-fit pin socket from TE's HOLTITE series — it's a solderless receptacle that grabs a mating pin or component lead by spring force, not a crimp or solder joint. It accepts round pins from 0.025" to 0.035" diameter, and square pins up to 0.025" per side — so it fits standard 0.025" square header posts, component leads, or test points.
Press-fit installation and board prep
The socket has no solder tail — it presses into a 0.058" (1.47 mm) mounting hole, and the board thickness must be at least 0.030" (0.76 mm) for the retention barbs to bite. The pin hole diameter inside the socket is 0.042" (1.07 mm) — that's the clearance bore the mating pin slides into before the contact beams close. Overall length is 0.136" (3.45 mm) from the top of the socket to the bottom of the press-fit barrel — short enough to keep the z-height low on dense boards.
