Five-Circuit Barrier Strip for Panel Wiring
The Buchanan NC6-P108-05 is a five-circuit barrier strip from the NC6 series, built for terminating individual field wires to a PCB or panel. The 0.375" (9.53 mm) pitch gives each circuit enough physical separation to handle the 20 A rating at 300 V without tracking between terminals — a common failure point on tighter-pitch blocks when the load is continuous. The dual-wall barrier design (2 Wall) adds creepage distance between adjacent terminals, which matters when the strip lives in a panel with 24/7 current draw and the insulation resistance needs to stay high over years of thermal cycling. Termination uses screws with captive plate on top — the plate stays captured in the screw, so there is no loose washer to drop into the panel during wiring. Wire range covers 12-22 AWG, which covers most control-circuit and moderate-power field wiring in industrial cabinets.
On a 0.325" or 0.300" pitch strip, 20 A would push the temperature rise close to the insulation limit in a still-air cabinet. The wider pitch here gives thermal headroom — the heat from each terminal has room to dissipate before it reaches the adjacent circuit. For a 5-circuit strip carrying 20 A on every position, the total heat load is about 10-15 W depending on contact resistance; the pitch and the polyamide housing handle that without the strip becoming a hot spot inside the enclosure. The 300 V rating is line-to-line on the strip, not line-to-ground. In a typical 120/240 VAC control panel, that is adequate for phase-to-phase wiring on a single strip. If the application runs 480 V phase-to-phase, this strip is not the right choice — the 300 V rating is the limit between adjacent circuits.
