Tin contacts are standard for a one-time assembly; if you're planning frequent disconnect cycles, gold plating on the mating half is worth checking.
Termination and Wire Fit
No crimp tool, no loose terminals to handle; the wire is captured directly in the housing. The trade-off is that IDC is a one-shot termination — rework means cutting the wire and starting fresh. The closed-end feature on the housing prevents wire poke-through, which is a practical detail when you're seating wire in a tight harness.
