12-Pin 1mm Pitch SMT Header for Board-to-Cable
The SM12B-SHLS-TF is a 12-position, single-row header from JST's SHL series, on 0.039" (1.00mm) pitch. It terminates board-to-cable connections via surface-mount, right-angle solder tails — the right-angle orientation routes the cable parallel to the PCB, saving vertical clearance in compact enclosures. The header is fully shrouded on all four walls, which protects the rectangular outer shroud contacts and guides the mating receptacle into alignment during assembly. This reduces the risk of bent pins in automated or high-volume mating cycles.
SMT Retention and Mating Half
A solder retention feature holds the header in place during reflow, preventing movement that could cause tombstoning or poor coplanarity. The insulation is natural polyamide (PA, Nylon) rated UL94 V-0 for flammability. The mating connector is the JST SHL series receptacle housing (e.g., part number series SHL), which accepts crimp terminals for discrete wires. For vibration-prone environments, consider a secondary retention method or a series with a locking feature.
