The JST SMR-03V-N is a 3-position receptacle housing from the SM series, pitched at 0.098" (2.50mm). It's a free-hanging, single-row shell that accepts male pin crimp terminals — you build the wire harness, then latch it into the matching header.
What Contacts Go In It
For the JST SM series, those are typically the SSH-003T-P0.2 or similar SM-series pin contacts, sized for 20–26 AWG wire. The crimp terminal locks into the housing cavity with a positive retention tang; a proper crimp tool (JST YC-122 or equivalent) ensures the terminal seats fully and the wire stays put under pull.
There's no keying beyond the latch orientation, so double-check the header's pin 1 position before stuffing the harness.
The 2-position SMR-02V-N shares the same 2.50 mm pitch, latch lock, and natural PA6 body — the only difference is the cavity count. If your BOM calls for 3 circuits, the SMR-03V-N is the right shell; the 2-position version won't accept a third terminal. Both use the same crimp contacts and mate with the same header series, so a mixed harness is straightforward.
Active lifecycle — JST still produces the SMR-03V-N, so there's no last-time-buy pressure on this BOM line. It's ROHS3 compliant.
