Six positions give you six independent circuits in a single row; the width across the housing is roughly 6 × 3.96 mm = 23.76 mm plus the side walls, so the harness connector footprint is compact enough for tight enclosure cutouts. The latch lock on the top of the housing snaps onto the mating header's locking ramp, giving a positive retention that won't shake loose under moderate vibration in a panel or cabinet.
