JST VL Series Receptacle, 12 Circuits, 6.20 mm Pitch
The JST VLR-12V is a 12-position, dual-row receptacle housing from the VL series, designed for wire-to-wire or wire-to-board interconnect in power distribution and signal harnesses. The 6.20 mm pitch provides generous creepage and clearance for the rated voltage, making it suitable for applications where a compact pitch would force a derating. The housing is molded in white PA66 (Nylon 6/6) — a material with good mechanical toughness and chemical resistance for automotive and industrial environments — and carries a latch holder on the fastening face for positive retention against vibration. Operating temperature spans -25°C to 90°C, covering under-hood and outdoor cabinet duty.
Pitch and Position Count Determine the Footprint
At 6.20 mm pitch, the VLR-12V occupies roughly 37 mm across the mating face for the 12 positions in two rows. That is a wide footprint compared to a 2.54 mm pitch header of the same circuit count, but the trade-off is that each contact has room for heavier-gauge wire and the housing wall thickness supports the latch holder without crosstalk between cavities. The 12-position count is the BOM line match — confirm the mating header has 12 circuits at the same 6.20 mm pitch.
Mating and Termination
This receptacle mates with the matching VL series pin header (male pin contacts) at the same 6.20 mm pitch. Termination is crimp-style — the housing accepts male pin contacts that are crimped onto the wire and then inserted into the cavities. The latch holder on the housing locks the mated pair together; the audible click confirms full engagement. Contacts are not included with the housing — they must be ordered separately as JST VLR series crimp terminals.
