The JST XARP-15V is a 15-position, single-row receptacle housing from the XA series, designed for wire-to-board crimp termination at a 0.098" (2.50 mm) pitch. This is a housing only — contacts are ordered separately, a detail that trips up first-time buyers who expect a loaded connector. The natural PA66 body carries a latch lock for positive retention in vibration-prone harnesses, and the free-hanging (in-line) mount suits it for panel-to-board or harness-internal runs where the mating header is board-mounted.
Pitch and Position — Why 15 Circuits at 2.50 mm
The 0.098" (2.50 mm) pitch is the standard for the XA series, giving enough creepage for signal-level voltages without forcing a wide board footprint. At 15 positions, this is the highest circuit count in the single-row XA receptacle range — one more than the 14-position XARP-14V and three more than the 12-position XARP-12V.
Contacts, Mating Half, and Termination
This housing accepts female socket crimp terminals (not included — order separately from JST's XA terminal range). Termination is crimp, inserted into the housing until the latch lock clicks. The mating half is a JST XA series pin header, typically through-hole or SMT, at the same 2.50 mm pitch. The latch lock on the receptacle engages with a ramp on the header shroud, giving an audible and tactile confirmation of full mate — critical when the connector is buried in a harness bundle and you can't see the engagement.
