PWRMax® 4-Position Plug — Press-Fit for Backplane Power Distribution
The Amphenol PWRMax® 10132640-001LF is a 4-position plug designed for board-edge, through-hole, right-angle mounting in backplane and orthogonal architectures. Its 2 signal, 2 power contact layout splits the circuit assignment — the two power blades carry the DC rail while the signal contacts handle low-current sense or control lines. Rated 600V, the connector relies on the PWRMax® housing geometry to maintain creepage between the power and signal paths without requiring an oversized board footprint. Termination is press-fit, which means no solder wicking or flux residue in the backplane assembly — the compliant pin cold-welds to the plated through-hole. Color is black; packaging is tray.
Press-Fit Termination — No Solder, No Flux
Press-fit termination eliminates the soldering step in backplane assembly. The compliant pin is sized for a specific PCB plated through-hole diameter — the interference fit creates a gas-tight joint that meets the same reliability as soldered connections but allows individual pin replacement if a contact is damaged. This is standard practice in high-reliability backplane systems where rework access is limited. Combined with the board lock, the connector stays registered during the press cycle and subsequent handling.
4 Positions — 2 Signal, 2 Power
The 4-position layout is not a uniform array — it is a hybrid contact arrangement with two signal contacts and two power contacts. This differs from the 30-position 10136993-001LF receptacle (24 signal, 6 power) which is a higher-density sibling in the same PWRMax® series. The 10132640-001LF plug mates with the matching PWRMax® receptacle; the 4-position count matches low-channel-count power distribution where only one or two DC rails are needed.
