Wire range and termination style
The 66902-216LF terminates 28-30 AWG ribbon cable via insulation displacement contacts (IDC). The wire type is specifically ribbon cable — not discrete wires — so the harness builder needs the correct cable width for 16 positions at 0.100" pitch. The IDC termination is a one-step process: the cable is pressed into the contact slots, displacing the insulation and making contact with the conductor. No stripping or crimping is required, which speeds up harness assembly for high-volume builds.
The polarizing key ensures the receptacle can only be mated in the correct orientation, eliminating mis-wiring in the harness.
