The Amphenol 8655MHRA5001KLF is a two-piece metal backshell for standard D-subminiature connectors, sized for 50-position and high-density 78-position shells in shell size D. The zinc die-cast body is nickel-plated and shielded, with a 45° cable exit that routes the round cable bundle at an angle off the connector axis — useful when the straight path is blocked by an enclosure wall or adjacent hardware. Assembly hardware is included: 4-40 mating screws and a strain relief clamp that grips the cable jacket. The backshell clamps over the D-Sub connector after termination, then the two halves screw together, trapping the cable and providing mechanical strain relief plus EMI shielding continuity through the metal shell.
