SMA Plug for RG-405 Semi-Rigid — 18 GHz, Weatherproof
It handles DC to 18 GHz at 50 Ohm impedance — the full band for most microwave links and test equipment. The gold-plated brass body and gold-over-brass centre contact keep corrosion off the signal path in outdoor or high-humidity installs. Threaded coupling secures the mate against vibration, and the weatherproof rating means it holds up in exposed enclosures without a secondary boot. Each bulk pack includes the connector body, a contact, a ferrule, and an insulator — everything needed for one cable termination.
What 18 GHz and 500 Cycles Mean on the Bench
18 GHz is the upper limit — the connector's geometry holds the 50 Ohm line through the launch so that return loss stays below the interface spec across the band. For a field-installed cable assembly, 500 mating cycles means the gold-on-gold interface survives repeated connect/disconnect on a test port or antenna feed without the centre pin fretting.
Cable Prep and Termination
The ferrule slides over the cable jacket after stripping; the centre conductor solders into the pin, the shield solders to the connector body. No crimp tool needed, which makes it a field-friendly repair option if you have a soldering iron and a steady hand. The kit includes the ferrule and insulator, so you only need to supply the RG-405 cable and solder.
