9-Position IDC Connector for Ribbon Cable Harnesses
The JST 09DB-6S is a 9-position IDC connector from the DB series, designed for mass-terminating ribbon cable to individual wires in a single operation. The 0.098" (2.50mm) cable pitch matches standard 2.54mm ribbon cable spacing, and the closed-end housing prevents cable over-insertion during termination. It accepts 24-28 AWG stranded wire, making it suitable for signal-level interconnects in internal harness assemblies where the IDC termination method saves labor versus discrete crimping.
The through hole, press-fit mounting means the connector is inserted into plated through holes on the PCB and held by interference fit, not solder. This suits backplane or high-reliability assemblies where solderless connections are preferred for rework or thermal reasons. The single-row layout with all 9 positions loaded gives a compact board footprint. The white housing aids visual identification during assembly and inspection.
Contact Plating and Wire Range
Contacts are finished with tin-lead plating, a traditional solderable finish that provides good corrosion resistance for indoor, low-cycle applications. The 24-28 AWG stranded wire range covers common signal ribbon cables — 28 AWG for dense cabling, 24 AWG where slightly more current capacity or mechanical robustness is needed.
