Board-fit and footprint decisions
The S10B-PH-SM4-TB: This is a 10-position, single-row header on 2.00 mm pitch — the footprint is compact enough for dense signal routing on a 2-layer board, but the 0.079" centres still allow a single trace between pads on standard 1 oz copper. Surface-mount right-angle orientation means the header sits flush on the board and the wire exit runs parallel to the PCB; the 0.217" insulation height (5.51 mm) sets the z-height clearance above the board for the mating receptacle and cable bend radius. Solder retention tabs on the sides anchor the header during reflow and resist shear forces from the cable assembly — useful if the harness is potted or strain-relieved near the connector.
Current and voltage limits for signal duty
Rated 2 A per contact at 100 V — this is a signal-level interconnect, not a power bus. The 2 A ceiling keeps the temperature rise under the PA6T housing limit; for multiple circuits at full load, derate per the series application note.
Mating half and locking
The header is shrouded on all four sides — the 4-wall shroud guides the mating PH-series receptacle into alignment and protects the male pins from damage during handling or blind mating. A detent lock on the top of the shroud engages the receptacle latch, providing positive retention against vibration or cable tug — not as strong as a full TPA lock, but sufficient for most indoor equipment and consumer applications.
