18-Position Push-In Plug with Mating Flange
TE Connectivity AMP Connectors 1-1986726-8 is an 18-position plug with female sockets, designed for free-hanging in-line mounting with 180° wire entry. The 0.150" (3.81mm) pitch and single-level layout make it a common fit for industrial terminal block systems where each circuit is individually wired. The screwless push-in spring termination accepts 14-30 AWG or 0.05-2 mm² wire — solid or ferruled stranded — and holds without a tool. This speeds harness assembly and resists loosening under vibration compared to screw-clamp terminals. Rated 9 A at 300 V (UL), the connector handles control power and signal circuits in industrial panels, PLC I/O racks, and motor control centres. A mating flange on the plug face provides positive locking with the matching header — critical in environments where cable strain or machine vibration could otherwise separate the mated pair.
If you need a currently-produced alternative, the closest functional match will share the 0.150" pitch, 18 positions, push-in termination, and mating flange — but a board spin or harness rework may be required to adapt a different manufacturer's terminal block system.
Wire Range and Termination Checklist
The push-in spring mechanism accepts solid or ferruled stranded wire from 14 AWG down to 30 AWG (0.05-2 mm²). Strip length and ferrule type should follow the TE application specification for the 1986726 series to ensure the spring grips the conductor, not the insulation. For applications requiring frequent disconnect/reconnect or exposure to corrosive atmospheres, a gold-plated contact variant would be preferred, but this part is tin as supplied.
