3.96mm Pitch, 12-Position Header — What the Ratings Mean
For a 12-position single-row header, the overall width across the pins is about 43.6mm from center of pin 1 to center of pin 12. Rated 7.5A per contact at 250VAC, the current ceiling is limited by the tin-plated brass contact and the PBT-GF housing temperature rise. At 7.5A per circuit in a 12-position header, the total current through the header can reach 90A if all circuits are loaded simultaneously — but the derating curve (in the product drawing) drops the per-contact rating as ambient temperature climbs above 25°C. In a 60°C cabinet, budget around 5A per contact. The friction-lock fastening mates with the corresponding Economy Power receptacle housing (e.g., 1-1877285-2 mates with a 12-position receptacle from the same series). The lock holds the pair engaged under moderate vibration — think conveyor drives, lighting ballasts, or control panels — without needing a secondary latch. On site, you can unmate it with a flat-blade screwdriver to release the lock tab.
