Wide-pitch power header for board-edge distribution
Its 6.00 mm pitch gives you room to route higher-voltage traces between pins without creepage worries — a common pain point when you try to squeeze a 600 VAC rating into a 2.5 mm pitch header. The latch holder locks the mating half in place — it won't vibrate loose in a cabinet fan or on a vehicle frame. Board lock holds the header down during wave solder, so you don't get tombstoned pins on the wave.
For a given gauge, TE's derating curves in the product drawing tell the real limit.
How it sits against a real sibling
Compared to the 1-1871673-2, which is a 4-position, 2-row header at 2.50 mm pitch with a detent lock, the 1-1969694-5 offers a wider 6.00 mm pitch and a latch holder instead of a detent — better for single-row power routing at higher voltage (600VAC vs 250VAC/DC). The 1-1871673-2 is a denser, lower-voltage option for mixed signal/power.
