Single-Wire IDC Termination for 20 AWG, SMD Right-Angle
This is useful for low-profile wire-to-board connections where a vertical header would eat into enclosure height. The housing is natural (unpigmented), and the contacts are finished in tin — a standard choice for internal connections with limited mating cycles. The single-row, 1-position design accepts the full 20 AWG conductor and loads all positions. The Closed End feature means the connector body has no pass-through for daisy-chaining — it terminates one discrete wire per unit.
What the IDC Termination Means for Your Assembly
For a single 20 AWG wire, this is a fast, repeatable process, but it requires a dedicated IDC press or hand tool. The wire must be solid or stranded with a tight strand count; fine-stranded wire can be problematic because individual strands may not all enter the slot cleanly. Confirm your board layout has clearance for the wire bend radius and that the SMD pads are designed for the mechanical stress of the IDC insertion force — the connector body takes the load, but the solder joints see some shear during wire insertion.
